  1. Former Harrisburg Receiver, David Unkovic, Explains Why He Left As Court Considers His Replacement

    A hearing is underway in Harrisburg to approve a new receiver, U.S. Air ForceMajor General William Lynch.   The former receiver, appointed by Governor Tom Corbett, was called to testify before the Commonwealth Court to explain why he suddenly resigned in March.  David Unkovic testifed Thursday morning that he left because he thought he would soon be asked to step down and he was upset about a separate receiver being appointed for the incinerator.   The incenerator is blamed for a large part of the city's debt. The Governor appointed a receiver to sort out the city's financial mess.

    Weary as Americans are of the war in Afghanistan, it has been obvious for some time that the United States would continue to play a role in that country after Afghan forces assume full control of security in 2014. So it isn't surprising that Washington and Kabul have reached a draft &quot;strategic partnership" agreement under which the U.S. will continue providing military, economic and other aid to Afghanistan for another decade.
