Rep. John P. Sarbanes, a Democrat, won the open Maryland 3rd Congressional District seat in the United States House of Representatives in November 2006. The district includes parts Howard County, Baltimore County and Anne Arundel County, including Baltimore and the state capital of Annapolis. The son of the retired U.S. Sen. Paul S. Sarbanes, John Sarbanes was a Baltimore County attorney in private practice before his election to Congress. He also spent seven years working with the Maryland State Department of Education and is noted for his work in Washington on the No Child Left Behind Act.  Show more »
