  1. Mural Arts Project Transforms Melon Street And Children's Lives

A mural arts project on a street in the neighborhood known as the "Bottom" of Philadelphia has the block a much needed facelift, and children working on the project a sense of empowerment.  The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program started the project known as "A Place To Call Home" to shed light on the issue of homelessness, housing and security.  A third of the youth working on the project were homeless.  By many of them painting the homes in cheerful colors on the 4800 block of Melon Street, they transformed the area and their own lives.  The project helped many youth meet people who helped them get housing.

  7. Philadelphia Tattoo Convention 2010

Have you ever heard the sound of 100 tattoo needles all buzzing at once?  The sound gently vibrates the room and creates an intoxicating white noise that permeated the 2010 Philadelphia Tattoo Convention.  It's audible from the minute you hit the escalator that led to the third floor that hosted hundreds of the best tattoo artists from all over the country. Strewn on every table in any position you could imagine, the masses lined up to get new ink.
