Sharp and tough but sensitive to all, Judge Karen is a sassy, no-nonsense judge who is bringing her unique style of edgy justice and flair to daytime court television this fall.

The Judge’s number one goal is to make her show as true to life as possible. JUDGE KAREN will adopt real life court room procedures and practices that will also be innovations to the daytime court genre. For example, unlike other court shows, JUDGE KAREN allows her litigants to cross-examine their witnesses. At times, this questioning can turn contentious and the conversations can dramatically affect the case outcome.

Another distinctive feature is a segment at the end of each episode called “Ask Judge Karen.” In this unique audience interaction segment, viewers will send videos to Judge Karen with basic legal questions. The videos will be shown as part of each episode and the judge will answer the questions directly to the home audience.

An opinionated and razor-sharp jurist who hails from Miami, Judge Karen earned her law degree from the University of Florida College of Law and worked as a public defender. Driven by the lack of diversity in the court system, Judge Karen decided to run for a Miami judgeship in 2000. She overthrew a longtime incumbent to become the second black woman to serve on the bench in Miami-Dade County.
