MPHL17-“Better Philly”/Howl-a-ween Contest
Official Rules
1. To Enter: The Contest is open only to legal citizens of the United States who are legal residents of PA, NJ and DE, and who are 18 years of age or older as of October 14, 2008. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Contest begins Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 10:00AM EST, and ends on Tuesday, November 2, 2008 at 11:59PM EST (the “Contest Period”.) To enter the myphl17 Better Philly Howl-a-ween Contest (the "Contest"), log on to either the “contest” or “Better Philly” section of www.myphl17.com during the Contest Period (defined below) and upload a photo of your pet. Entrants must complete the on-line entry form, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, email address and must upload a photo of their pet in the allowable file size (200kb). Sponsor will not be responsible for any difficulties establishing Internet connections or logging on to the Contest page, unavailability of servers or any other technical malfunction that may interfere with an entrant's ability to enter the Contest. A limit of (5) entries per person during the (“Contest Period”) will be allowed for submission.
2. Entry Deadline: Entries may be submitted starting at 10:00am EST on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 until 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, November 2, 2008 (the "Contest Period").
3. Winner Selection and Notification: On Monday, November 3, 2008, (10) pet photos will be selected by a panel of three judges from among all eligible entries submitted, subject to eligibility verification and deemed semi-finalists. The judging criteria will be A) cleverest costume; B) most creative photo composition; and C) appropriateness of costume to pet’s appearance.
The ten (10) Semifinalist photos will be posted on myphl17.com by 5:00PM EST on Monday, November 5, 2008 and on-line voting will begin at that time. Viewers will be allowed to vote for their favorite pet photo via an on-line poll. On-line voting will close on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 11:59PM EST. All votes must be received by 11:59PM EST on 11/9/08.
Votes will be tallied and one photo will be chosen as the Winner. The Winner will be contacted by telephone on Monday, December 1, 2008. If the selected Winner cannot be reached by 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, December 5, 2008, fails to comply with these Official Rules, or is found to be ineligible in accordance with the Contest’s Official Rules, that entrant shall be disqualified and an alternate Winner will be selected by the criteria listed above from among the remaining eligible Semi Finalists until an eligible Winner is selected.
4. Appearances: The Winner must agree to appear on a recorded segment of Better Philly with their pet and sponsor at myphl17 studios at 5001 Wynnefield Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19131.
5. The Prize: $250.00 to be awarded in the form of a check.
Prize winner may be required to present proof of identity and eligibility and to sign the release and waiver of liability set forth below before prize is delivered.
6. Eligibility Restrictions: This contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Entrants must be at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry, and a legal resident of Pennsylvania, NJ and Delaware, . Employees of Tribune Television Company (WPHL-TV) (the "Sponsor and their parents, subsidiaries and affiliates, and the immediate family members of such employees, are not eligible. If an entrant has won any prize from the Sponsor within the thirty (30) days before the Contest Period begins, that entrant is ineligible. Federal, state, and local taxes, if any, shall be the sole responsibility of the winners.
7. Internet: If for any reason the Internet-related portion of this Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, tampering, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause, which interrupts or threatens the administration, security or integrity of the Contest, the Sponsor reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to terminate or suspend the Contest or any portion of the Contest. Any attempt to damage or undermine the fair and legitimate operation of the Contest will result in disqualification from the Contest. Contest shall be governed and enforced pursuant to Pennsylvania law, excluding choice of law provisions.
8. Conditions of Entry:
a. Use of winner's name: By entering, each entrant grants permission, without further compensation, to Contest Sponsor and their agents and licensees, to use the entrant's name, voice, photograph, likeness, and biographical material for broadcast and promotional purposes in any media in connection with the Contest and the Contest Sponsor.
b. Execution of Affidavit and Release: By entering, each entrant agrees that if selected as a winner, he/she may be asked to sign a release and waiver of liability. The prize will be forfeited and no other entrant will be picked if the winner fails to execute the prepared form of release and waiver, if requested to do so within thirty (30) days of the end of the Voting Period.
c. Release Station and Sponsor of Liability: By entering, each entrant agrees to release Contest Sponsor and Sponsor Entities from any claim, loss, liability, damage, expense, or injury of any kind arising from the entrant's participation in the Contest or receipt or use of a Contest prize.
d. No Prize Substitutions: No substitute prizes are available; however, Contest Sponsor may, at their discretion, substitute prizes of equal or greater value.
e. Sponsor' Decisions Final: By entering, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules, and that all decisions regarding eligibility, the administration of this Contest, and the award of Contest prizes made by the Sponsor shall be final and binding on all entrants. Sponsor reserve the right to amend these Official Rules at any time.
9. Winners List: For a list of winners or a copy of the Official Rules, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to WPHL-TV Better Philly Howl-a-ween Contest, 5001 Wynnefield Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19131. All requests must be mailed separately and received no later than one (1) week after the end of the Contest Period.
