BEVERLY HILLS -- Actress Lindsay Lohan's probation stemming from her 2007 DUI arrest has been extended for another year.

Lohan appeared in a Beverly Hills courtroom Friday on accusations that she violated the terms of her probation. An alcohol education program sent a letter to Superior Court Judge Marsha N. Revel saying the actress had not been attending classes.

Revel ordered Lohan to attend the progress report hearing as a result of the accusation. Such an appearance is not normally required for a misdemeanor case.

Lohan's attorney explained that the actress took the time off to make a movie in Texas, which is now done.

The judge extended her probation so she could make up the classes she missed and warned her to notify the court before any more absences.

Lohan, 23, was arrested in July, 2007 for driving under the influence. She lost control of her Mercedes SL65 and crashed into some shrubs, following a night of partying. Cocaine was also found in the vehicle, according to police.

In August, 2007, the "Mean Girls" actress pleaded no contest to the charges. She was sentenced to three years probation, spent 24 hours in jail and was also ordered to attend an 18-month alcohol education program for drunk driving, reckless driving and driving under the influence of cocaine.

Lohan would have faced jail time had her probation been revoked.
