PHILADELPHIA – And it’s a homerun for PHL17! Friday’s Phillies’ broadcast sets an Opening Day rating record, while Sunday afternoon’s game shattered previous records for a regular season telecast.
In Nielsen ratings, Friday’s Modell’s Sporting Goods Opening Day game averaged a 9.9 household rating for 3 hours of play (+43% Year To Year), with a 4.4 rating in Adults 25-54 (+63% YTY).
Sunday’s game averaged a 14.8 household rating – the highest Phillies rating ever on PHL17. The record rating also scored big numbers in Adults 25-54 with an 8.7 (+43% over 2010 Sunday high) and Men 25-54 with an 11.4 (+34% over 2010 Sunday high). The post game show averaged a 6.3 household rating with a 4.3 in Adults 25-54 and a 4.8 in Men 25-54
When looking at household shares for Sunday’s game, PHL17 had a 32.4 share average for the broadcast, crushing the previous record by 7.5 share points or 32%. “Interest surrounding the Phillies is at an all time high” said PHL17’s Vice President and General Manager Vince Giannini. “We are thrilled to be able to bring the games to a record audience”.
PHL17’s next broadcast of the Phillies is tomorrow night at 7pm against the New York Mets. Cole Hamels will make his 2011 regular season debut.
